Caroline Newman Small is a shareholder with Davis & Santos. Caroline focuses her practice on commercial litigation, including banking litigation, IRS controversies and tax litigation. Caroline¹s tax practice involves representing individuals, business entities, and financial institutions in IRS disputes regarding liens, levies, summonses and other collection proceedings.
Prior to joining Davis & Santos, Caroline was an Honors Program trial attorney in the Civil Trial Section of the Tax Division at the United States Department of Justice in Washington, D.C. At the Justice Department, Caroline litigated affirmative and defensive civil cases in federal district and bankruptcy courts that presented a variety of legal issues involving federal tax law, bankruptcy law, constitutional law, commercial law, and state property law. Prior to returning to her hometown of San Antonio, Caroline also served as an adjunct professor at the George Washington University School of Law, where she taught courses in practical trial strategy and techniques.
Education
Caroline received her J.D. with high honors from The University of Connecticut School of Law in 2006, her M.S. in Chemistry from The University of Connecticut in 2002, and her B.S. in Chemistry from Trinity College in 2001.
