Lauren Castaldi

Profile

Lauren began her career in the Tax Division of the Department of Justice, where she focused on complex civil federal tax litigation. She also served as a Special Assistant United States Attorney in the District of Maryland, representing federal agencies in federal district and bankruptcy court.

She then joined the Criminal Enforcement Section of the DOJ’s Tax Division, spearheading trial teams through investigations involving charges of conspiracy, tax evasion, and money laundering. She also served as Counsel to the Assistant Attorney General for Civil-Criminal Coordination.

Lauren’s career at the Department of Justice continued in the Public Integrity Section of the Criminal Division, which was the principal unit responsible for enforcing federal laws governing elections, public corruption, and campaign finance violations.

Following her government career, Lauren joined a Big Four accounting firm as Assistant General Counsel in its Litigation and Investigations group, where she led internal investigations into complex and sensitive matters across firm operations.

Lauren has also been an active contributor to legal education, serving as an adjunct professor at Georgetown University Law Center and George Mason University School of Law. Her curriculum centered around legal research and writing, the American legal system, and unincorporated business entities.

With nearly two decades of experience in complex financial crimes, government enforcement, and corporate investigations, Lauren Castaldi is a seasoned litigator and former federal prosecutor. Her career spans the U.S. Department of Justice and in-house practice at a leading professional services firm while giving back to the community that cultivated her passion for the legal profession.
