Davis & Santos congratulates Caroline Newman Small on her first selection as a Texas Super Lawyer in the practice area of Business Litigation!
Caroline is a shareholder at Davis & Santos and she represents individuals and businesses in complex civil matters in federal court, state court, and bankruptcy court. Caroline formerly served as an Honors Program Trial Attorney at the U.S. Department of Justice and as a law clerk on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit.
After graduating law school with High Honors, Caroline served as a law clerk to the Honorable Raymond W. Gruender, Circuit Court Judge on the United States Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit, for the 2006-2007 term in St. Louis, Missouri.
Caroline was then selected to serve as an Honors Program Trial Attorney in the Civil Trial Section of the Tax Division at the United States Department of Justice in Washington, D.C. At the DOJ, Caroline litigated affirmative and defensive civil cases that presented a variety of legal issues involving federal tax law, bankruptcy law, constitutional law, commercial law, and state property law in federal district courts and bankruptcy courts across the country. Prior to returning to her hometown of San Antonio, Caroline also served as an adjunct professor at the George Washington University School of Law, where she taught courses in practical trial strategy and techniques.
Caroline joined Davis & Santos as a senior associate in 2012 and was offered equity partnership in 2015. She served as the law firm’s Managing Partner for seven years. Caroline focuses her practice on commercial litigation, appeals, and bankruptcy.
