Davis & Santos is proud to welcome Lauren Castaldi as a new partner at the firm.
Lauren brings nearly two decades of experience in complex litigation, government enforcement, financial crimes, corporate investigations, and federal prosecution. Her extensive background strengthens the firm’s ability to represent clients facing sophisticated legal, regulatory, and investigative matters.
Extensive Experience at the U.S. Department of Justice
Lauren began her legal career in the Tax Division of the U.S. Department of Justice, where she handled complex civil federal tax litigation. She also served as a Special Assistant United States Attorney in the District of Maryland, representing federal agencies in federal district court and bankruptcy court.
She later joined the Criminal Enforcement Section of the DOJ’s Tax Division, where she led trial teams through investigations involving allegations of conspiracy, tax evasion, and money laundering. During her time at the Department of Justice, Lauren also served as Counsel to the Assistant Attorney General for Civil-Criminal Coordination.
Her federal government experience continued in the Public Integrity Section of the DOJ’s Criminal Division. That section is responsible for enforcing federal laws involving elections, public corruption, and campaign finance violations.
Corporate Investigations and In-House Counsel Experience
Following her government service, Lauren joined a Big Four accounting firm as Assistant General Counsel in its Litigation and Investigations group. In that role, she led internal investigations involving complex and sensitive matters across the firm’s operations.
Her experience working in both government enforcement and private-sector legal departments provides her with a valuable perspective when advising businesses, executives, and professionals navigating investigations, litigation, and regulatory concerns.
Commitment to Legal Education
Lauren has also contributed to the legal profession through education. She has served as an adjunct professor at Georgetown University Law Center and George Mason University School of Law.
Her courses have focused on legal research and writing, the American legal system, and unincorporated business entities.
