On November 15, 2022, the Bexar County Commissioners Court unanimously approved the inclusion of the establishment of Statutory Probate Court #3 on the county’s legislative initiatives to be presented during the 88th Texas Legislative Session. With the inclusion of PC#3 as a Bexar County Initiative, it now becomes the work of the Bexar County Director of Governmental Affairs to help shepherd this legislation through the 2023 legislative session. The Director uses the Bexar County Initiative Agenda as the blueprint of priorities to advocate for in the next legislature cycle as the Agenda serves as the directive to write legislation, seek out bill sponsors, track bill progress and secure support. Although county supported items typically pass in the Texas Legislature, the San Antonio Bar Association’s Probate Courts Committee will request updates and will continue to follow the initiative as it moves through the Texas Legislature.
